GymDog CaMarah Williams Earns SEC Freshman of the Week Status

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Georgia freshman gymnast CaMarah Williams was selected as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Williams delivered strong performances for the Bulldogs last weekend at Stegeman Coliseum, helping Georgia earn victories over four opponents. The GymDogs posted a 197.675 to defeat CMU (195.900), Temple (192.200) and Fisk (188.775) in Friday's quad meet, then followed with a 197.550–196.050 win over No. 11 Auburn on Sunday.
Williams claimed four event titles across the two meets, three of them coming on Sunday. She posted season highs on vault (9.950), beam (9.950), and floor (9.975), sweeping the event crowns.
On Friday, Williams earned a 9.875 on vault to capture the title, added a 9.900 on beam to tie for third and recorded a 9.950 on floor to finish second.
Williams, of Kansas City, Missouri, owns the highest floor and beam averages among SEC freshmen, ranking at No. 3 in the nation on floor and No. 7 in the nation on beam.
The Georgia Gymnastics team is currently No. 6 in the nation and No. 5 in the SEC in the week five rankings, holding the No. 1 spot on the floor for the third-consecutive week.
Georgia Gymnastics is set to compete at No. 6 Arkansas this Friday, Feb. 6 at Bud Walton Arena, airing live on SEC Network at 7:00 p.m. ET.
