Georgia Track & Field Freshmen Earn Weekly Awards

ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia track & field's freshmen Adaejah Hodge and Jonathan Simms have earned Southeastern Conference weekly awards for their performances at Arkansas' Razorback Invitational, announced Tuesday afternoon.
Hodge was named SEC Women's Co-Freshman of the Week for a pair of impressive collegiate debut performances in the women's 60 meter dash and 200 meter dash.
The Douglasville, Ga. native clocked a world leading time of 22.53 in women's 200 meter dash this weekend, tying the meet record and placing 25th on the indoor collegiate all-time list. Additionally in the women's 60 meter dash, Hodge clocked 7.16, which is good for third in both the current NCAA rankings and in school history.
Simms received SEC Men's Athlete of the Week honors, his second conference weekly award of the season with another standout performance in the men's 400 meter dash.
The McKinney, Tx. native was the first collegiate finisher in at 45.04 in the men's 400 meter – only behind former Bulldog and All-American Indoor 400-meter record-holder, Christopher Morales-Williams who set the meet record at 44.87. It would be ranked No. 2 in the NCAA, shy of his 44.62 early this year.
Georgia will take the weekend off before splitting for Clemson's Tiger Paw Invite and Boston's David Hemery Valentine Invitational, both held on Feb. 13-14.
