QUICK KICKS
Aggies in Athens
Georgia returns home for two straight fixtures at Turner Soccer Complex, beginning with Friday's match against Texas A&M. The Bulldogs and Aggies are facing off for the fifth-consecutive season, with A&M making its first trip to Athens since 2017. Under head coach Keidane McAlpine, Georgia has flipped the script in the series, winning all four meetings, including a thrilling 3-2 double overtime victory in the 2023 SEC Tournament semifinals. Last season, the Bulldogs bested the Aggies, 3-0, in Bryan-College Station, with goals from Cate Hardin, Kiera Staude, and Summer Denigan. Through 11 matches, the teams share two common opponents: TCU and Vanderbilt - both teams fell to the Horned Frogs, while Georgia tied Vanderbilt and A&M lost to the Commodores.
Level in Louisiana
Georgia only tallied one shot on frame Sunday evening but made the most of it with Maddy Herniter's late equalizer in a 1-1 tie at LSU. The Bulldogs picked up their third SEC point of the season as Herniter headed in a free kick from Emma Pettersen in the 86th minute, posting the first goal of her collegiate career. Although Georgia only mustered one SOG, the Bulldogs did outshoot the Tigers, 14-13, and earned a season-high seven corner kicks. With the tie, Georgia earned a result in its 19th of 22 SEC regular season road matches under Keidane McAlpine.
Hog Tied
Georgia earned its second SEC point of the season with a 2-2 draw at Arkansas on Sept. 24. After the Razorbacks took the lead in the 39th minute, Mona Childs tied it for the Bulldogs four minutes later with a set piece goal off the corner from teammate Lola Manuel. Georgia quickly took the lead in the second half as Kieryn Jeter scored her first career goal off Kiera Staude's assist, but Arkansas countered five minutes with an equalizing header. The Bulldogs were able to withstand a second half surge from the Razorbacks, who racked up an 18-9 shot advantage and amassed 16 corner kicks, the most ever surrendered by a Georgia team.
Starting Out Strong
Georgia's starting lineup has been proficient throughout the season at giving the Bulldogs early leads, posting a first half goal in all but two matches. The Bulldogs have scored first in eight of their 11 matches, with five of those goals coming in the opening 10 minutes of play. Georgia will also look to turn leads into eventual victories, having tied or lost in six matches in which the team has held the lead.
