Georgia Track & Field Collects a Pair of SEC Awards

ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia track & field's freshman Maddi Cooper and sophomore Jayden Keys have earned Southeastern Conference weekly awards for their performances at New Mexico's Dr. MLK Jr. Invite, announced Tuesday afternoon.
Cooper was named SEC Women's Freshman of the Week for the second time this season with another stellar performance in the women's 60-meter hurdles where she finished as runner-up at 7.99, 8.01 altitude adjusted.
The Atlanta, Ga. native ranks moved to No. 2 on UGA's all-time list and No. 3 on the 2026 NCAA list with the best finish for a freshman this year.
Meanwhile, Keys made his debut on the indoor SEC awards list, earning his first-career Men's Field Athlete of the Week with an event win in the long jump.
The Houston, Tx. native's leap of 7.89m/25-10.75 was the best mark in the country over the weekend in the long jump and ranks No. 6 in the 2026 NCAA list.
Georgia will return to action this weekend for the competitive Arkansas' Razorback Invitational on Jan. 30-31.
