Georgia Track & Field Splits for New Mexico and Orange & Purple Invite

Albuquerque, N.M./ Clemson, S.C. — Georgia Track & Field splits, sending a majority of the squad to New Mexico for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate invitational and the remaining Bulldogs to Clemson's Orange and Purple Invite.
The Bulldogs are coming off an impressive season debut two weeks ago that earned freshman Jonathan Simms and Senior Dejanea Oakley USTFCCCA National Player of the Week, along with SEC accolades Men's Runner of the Week for Simms and Women's Runner of Week for Oakley. Another pair of Bulldogs earned SEC awards, freshman Maddi Cooper earned SEC Women's Co-Freshman of the week from her 60-meter hurdle performance, while fellow freshman Sidi Njie was named SEC Men's Freshman of the week.
Georgia is making a return trip to Clemson, marking its second of three scheduled trips this indoor season. The Bulldogs are set to compete in the Rock Norman Track & Field Complex
Kicking off the action for Georgia this weekend is Senior Ella Rush at the Orange & Purple Invite. She opens competition in both sides of the events, first with the women's 60 meter hurdles at 12:30 p.m. then the women's shot put at 1:00 p.m.
Meanwhile at the Albuquerque Convention Center, action for the Bulldogs does not kick off until 6:00 p.m. when both men's and women's long jump are slated to start.
