Coaching Connection
LSU head coach Jay Clark will return to Athens, where he spent 20 seasons on staff, helping guide the GymDogs to seven NCAA National Titles and 14 SEC Championships. Clark primarily coached bars at Georgia, and he coached the GymDogs to 64 All-America honors and seven NCAA individual national titles on bars. From 2009-12, Clark served as the head coach at Georgia, and during that time the GymDogs captured three NCAA individual national championships, won the 2012 NCAA Auburn Regional, and produced 23 All-America honors.
A Look at What's Ahead
Georgia is back on the road next Friday, Jan. 23, traveling to Norman, Oklahoma, for a dual meet against No. 2 Oklahoma. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. ET and will air on SEC Network live from the Lloyd Noble Center.
Bulldogs Check in at No. 12 in WCGA Preseason Poll
The GymDogs debuted at No. 8 in the Road to Nationals rankings after their first competition. Georgia was one of nine teams in the country to score a 197.000 to open the season. Georgia put up top-10 team scores on bars (10th), beam (tied-2nd), and floor (2nd) in the opener. Lily Smith's 9.950 was the second-highest floor routine followed by a sixth-ranked 9.925 by Nyla Aquino. Holly Snyder, Kelise Woolford, and Smith all tied for 10th on beam with a season-opening score of 9.925 on the event. Ady Wahl's 9.900 on vault is tied for 10th in the nation.
Recapping the Last Meet
Georgia posted a 197.000 in a dual meet win over No. 21 Ohio State in the season opener on Saturday, Jan. 10. It was only the second time in program history and first since 2007 the GymDogs posted a 197.000 or better in a season opener. Georgia brought home event winners in all four events against the Buckeyes with junior Lily Smith winning a share of the bars, beam, and floor titles. Georgia's freshmen shined in the opener, highlighted by Kelise Woolford co-winning the bars and beam titles and CaMarah Williams posting a 9.900 on floor. The GymDogs put up seven scores of 9.90 or better in the meet, including three each on beam and floor.
Out of the Gate Strong
Georgia's 197.000 on Jan. 10 was only the second time in program history and first since 2007 (vs. Stanford, 197.375) that the GymDogs recorded a 197.000 or better in a season opener. Georgia didn't top the 197.000 mark until the fifth meet of the season last year on Feb. 7.
Freshmen Shine Bright in Opener
All five members of Georgia's freshmen class competed in the season opener at No. 21 Ohio State on Jan. 10. Kelise Woolford highlighted the meet for the class, co-winning event titles on bars (9.875) and beam (9.925). CaMarah Williams posted a 9.900 on floor, and Autumn Reingold recorded a 9.850 on bars. Brook Pierson (9.750) and Avery Moll (9.150) each competed on vault in the season opener.
Gleichowski Nominated for Winter Allstate NACDA Good Works Team
Sophomore Brooke Gleichowski was named a nominee for the Winter Allstate NACDA Good Works Team. Gleichowski is of 180 student-athletes nominated for the award and one of four from the University of Georgia. The SEC has 22 representatives on the list, three from the sport of gymnastics. The award recognizes male and female student-athletes across all divisions and sports who go above and beyond in their commitment to community service, academic achievement, and athletic performance. Gleichowski was Georgia's representative on the 2025 SEC Gymnastics Community Service Team.
Georgia Looks to Build on Successful 2025 Campaign
In their second year at the helm of the Georgia GymDogs, co-head coaches Cécile Canqueteau-Landi and Ryan Roberts will look to build on a successful 2025 season. The GymDogs posted a 6-11-1 record in 2025 with a 3-5 record in SEC competition. The GymDogs went 4-1 at Stegeman Coliseum, ending the regular season at home with a season-best score of 197.975 against No. 1 Oklahoma, the sixth-highest regular-season score in program history. Georgia increased its team score from meet to meet nearly every week during the regular season, posting 197 or better a total of six times. Georgia concluded the season in the regional round of the Seattle Regional as the No. 10 seed, Georgia's first time seeded in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.
GymDog All-Americans Set for Junior Campaigns
Juniors Lily Smith and Ady Wahl are poised for year three in the Red & Black after garnering First Team All-America honors in 2025. Smith, who was a First Team All-American on bars and beam and Second Team on floor and all-around as a freshman, added another First Team accolade on floor last season. Wahl earned her first All-America nod on vault in 2025. It was the first time since 2019 that multiple Bulldogs were named All-American in a season and first since 2018 to feature multiple First Team accolades.
2026 Roster at a Glance
Georgia's 2026 roster is made up of 20 gymnasts: 15 returners and five newcomers. Notable returners include 2025 All-Americans Lily Smith and Ady Wahl, 2025 SEC All-Freshman Team member Nyla Aquino, Csenge Bácskay, Kara Eaker, Ja' Free Scott, Holly Snyder, Anya Turner, and Eryn Williams. The balanced roster comprises five seniors, five juniors, five sophomores, and five freshmen. The newcomers to the roster are all freshmen: Avery Moll, Brooke Pierson, Autumn Reingold, CaMarah Williams, and Kelise Woolford.
Williams Joins GymDogs Early
Freshman CaMarah Williams signed with Georgia on Nov. 12, 2025, enrolled early, and officially joined the team on Dec. 11. She competed in all four events two days later in the GymDog Debut on Dec. 13. Williams, a five-star standout from Kansas City, Missouri, trained at EDGE Gymnastics and competed as an elite gymnast.
GymDogs Excelling in the Classroom
Georgia Gymnastics achieved a team GPA of 3.613 for the Spring 2025 semester. The mark became the second-highest team GPA in program history. A total of eight GymDogs appeared on the 2024-25 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll, and 12 earned WCGA Scholastic All-America honors while seven more earned a spot on the 2024-25 SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll last season. The GymDogs followed it up with a 3.67 team GPA in Fall 2025, topping the new program record mark. Brooke Pierson, Holly Snyder, and Eryn Williams achieved a perfect 4.0 in the Fall.
Olympic-Caliber Training
Co-head coach Cécile Canqueteau-Landi and assistant coach Marissa King are both former Olympians. Canqueteau-Landi competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics for France, and King competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics for Great Britain. Canqueteau-Landi has also coached in three athletes at three Olympic games: Madison Kocian in 2016 in Rio and Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles in 2020 in Tokyo, and 2024 in Paris. Additionally, Csenge Bácskay competed on vault for Hungary at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
