ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia swimming and diving teams opened 2026 with a trio of victories over Florida State and Arkansas Saturday at Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
 
Fast Facts
  • Freshman Kennedi Dobson turned in a tremendous performance with three individual wins. First, in the 1,000-yard freestyle, Dobson led a top-four sweep with a personal-best time of 9:29.05, the sixth-fastest in program history. She followed it up with a winning PB of 1:53.66 in the 200y backstroke before winning the 500y freestyle with an NCAA cut of 4:39.48. She also anchored the 400y freestyle relay with an anchor leg of 48.49, the fastest of all performers.
  • Graduate Luca Urlando posted another strong outing with four victories, starting with leading off the 200y medley relay with a leg of 21.10. Urlando then prevailed in the 200y butterfly with an NCAA time of 1:39.59, winning by nearly four seconds. He later won the 100y butterfly with an NCAA cut of 45.27, followed by earning his sixth NCAA cut of the season in the 200y IM with a winning 45.27.
  • Senior Ieva Maluka touched first in the 200y butterfly with a season-best NCAA cut of 1:56.29 and posted the top time in the 200y IM at 1:58.11, while also placing second in the 100y freestyle with a time of 49.16.
  • Freshman Sean Green swept the men's distance events, first taking the 1,000y freestyle with a time of 8:57.64 before posting a top time of 4:19.57 in the 500y freestyle.
  • In other swimming victories, Marie Landreneau (1:44.46) and Tomas Koski (1:33.66) each posted NCAA cuts in the 200y freestyle. Senior Ruard van Renen touched first in the 100y backstroke with an NCAA cut of 44.68, with Hayden Meyers leading the 200y backstroke at 1:41.66. Senior Olivia Della Torre won the 100y butterfly with a time of 53.09, while Charlotte Headland proved victorious in the 100y breaststroke with a season-best 1:00.50.
  • Junior Matthew Bray finished first on 3-meter with a season-best score of 401.35, followed by a second-place finish on 1-meter at 327.70.

Georgia remains home to host rival Tennessee on Saturday, Jan. 24 at noon EST at Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium. The meet will also celebrate Swimapalooza 2 with fun giveaways and activities for all fans.
