June 10, 2025 | Women's Tennis
ATHENS, Ga. – Dasha Vidmanova was named the 2025 Honda Sport Award winner for Tennis, Executive Director Chris Voelz of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) announced on Tuesday.
The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 49 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, signifying "the best of the best in collegiate athletics." The recipient of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2025 Honda Cup, which will be presented during a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on June 30, at 7 pm ET, in New York City.
Vidmanova was selected among a quartet of finalists which included Texas A&M's Mary Stoiana, Auburn's DJ Bennett and Tennessee's Elza Tomase. She is the 21st Honda Sport Award winner in Georgia history, marking the fourth for women's tennis and the first since 2016-17 (Kendall Williams, track and field).
"Winning the Honda Award means so much to me — not just as a tennis player, but as a student-athlete who's grown so much these past few years," said Vidmanova. "I'm incredibly grateful for my coaches, teammates, family, and everyone who's supported me along the way."
Leading the Bulldogs on court one in both singles and doubles, Dasha Vidmanova played a key role for a Georgia team that went 29-3 overall (13-2 SEC) and finished the year ranked No. 1 nationally after winning three team titles including the 2025 ITA National Team Indoor Championship, the 2025 SEC Tournament and the 2025 NCAA Championship.Â
She became the first player in program history as well as the third woman in NCAA history to achieve the NCAA Triple Crown, winning an NCAA team, singles and doubles championship during her collegiate career.Â
In the fall, Vidmanova secured the 2024-25 NCAA Singles Championship, securing the program's fourth NCAA singles title (joining Chelsey Gullickson – 2010, Angela Lettiere – 1994 and Lisa Spain – 1984) and becoming the program's first to win both NCAA individual titles after earning the doubles title in 2024 alongside Aysegul Mert, the program's first.Â
Vidmanova earned 2025 NCAA All-Tournament Team honors while also being named the competition's Most Outstanding Player after winning three singles matches and three doubles matches (six unfinished) through six rounds of competition. At the conclusion of the spring season, Vidmanova officially earned All-American status in both singles and doubles as she finished the year ranked No. 1 in both categories.Â
Following the Bulldogs dominant run to win the 2025 SEC Tournament, Vidmanova was tabbed 2025 SEC Player of the Year for the first time while also earning All-SEC First Team honors. Amongst her peers, she was also voted the Liz Murphey Athlete of the Year for the 2025 Dawgs Choice Awards.Â
Vidmanova played a crucial role in helping secure Georgia's first title of the season back in February at the 2025 ITA National Team Indoor Championships, earning All-Tournament Team honors while securing the competition's MVP award after winning two singles matches (two unfinished) and all four doubles matches through four rounds of action. She was named SEC Player of the Week twice during the regular season for the weeks of Feb. 12 and April 9.Â
Vidmanova wrapped up her senior season with outstanding numbers, finishing 32-5 overall in singles while going 20-4 in dual singles match play, 12-2 during the SEC regular season with a season-best 12-match win streak from Feb. 28 to April 11. She tallied 24 ranked singles wins (seven vs top 10 opponents) during her senior year with 13 coming in the spring highlighted by victories against No. 1/3 Mary Stoiana (twice) and No. 2 DJ Bennett. On March 28, Vidmanova secured her 100th career singles victory as a Bulldog against No. 32 Alabama, adding to her already illustrious Georgia career.Â
In doubles, Vidmanova was dominant alongside fellow senior Mell Reasco, capping off the year 24-4 overall while going 23-3 in dual doubles matches, 11-2 in SEC regular season play and closing out the regular season on a season-best seven-match win streak.Â
She capped off her Bulldog career 107-28 overall in singles with a 68-20 mark in dual singles as well as an 82-45 career doubles record with a 60-34 dual doubles mark.
Off the court, Dasha Vidmanova graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance as well as a 3.70 overall GPA. Her efforts in the classroom earned her a spot on the 2025 SEC Spring Honor Roll as well as 2024-25 CSC Academic All-America First Team honors.
"The Honda Award is the pinnacle of women's collegiate sports and to see Dasha be named the winner is a testament to the work that she has put in over the years," head coach Drake Bernstein said. "She took strides each of her four years at Georgia and to see her close out her collegiate career with such a distinction is tremendous both for her and our program."
