TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – No. 23 Alabama snapped top-ranked Georgia's seven-game winning streak Sunday, collecting a 9-3 decision of a suspended game and then posting a 5-4 victory in seven innings at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

• In game two of the series that began Friday because inclement weather was in the weekend forecast, Georgia grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first with Robbie Burnett and Tre Phelps picking up an RBI. Nolan McCarthy and Slate Alford scored after reaching on base hits. For Alford, it extended his on-base streak to 35 games.

• Alabama responded by batting around in the first to take a 4-2 lead and chase junior starter Kolten Smith.

• UA starter Riley Quick struck out seven in 4.1 innings while graduate Charlie Goldstein provided 3.1 innings of relief for the Bulldogs on Friday before a 70-minute rain delay and eventual suspended game. When play resumed Sunday, Braylon Meyers (3-1) got the win while Smith dropped to 4-3.

• In the final game of the series, which was a seven-inning contest per SEC weather policy, UA loaded the bases with one out in the first and managed just one run as Bulldog junior Leighton Finley (2-2) battled back with a pair of strikeouts.

• UA hit a pair of home runs in a three-run third for a 4-1 lead as Zane Adams got a win to move to 7-2 and Carson Ozmer collected his SEC-leading 16^th save.

• Bulldog freshman INF/OF Bryce Clavon, making his first career start, smacked a home run to start the third inning.

• Senior Slate Alford had a single in the third to extend his on base streak to 36 games and 52 of 53 contests this year. Sophomore Daniel Jackson smacked a two-run home run in the sixth to cut it to 5-4.

• In the series, Phelps finished 7-for-14 (.500) with eight RBI.

• This was the second straight SEC series that the Bulldogs were without one of the league's top players in Ryland Zaborowski (.372-16-58) who is out with an elbow injury.

• Georgia finishes 7-8 in SEC road games. The Bulldogs are 9-3 at home in league play and end the regular season with Texas A&M.

"We need to play a clean baseball game, and that will be our focus on Thursday. If we play a clean baseball game today, we win this one. We need to execute our pitches in leverage counts. When you get your fastball, get off you're 'A' swing. Play good defense and not make stupid baserunning mistakes. Everybody is good in our league. We scored a ton of runs in the first game of the series, but I've said it all the time, you get a big win on a Friday night, you don't get to celebrate for four or five days. You've got to turn right around and play the next day and the day after that. We've got to mature a little bit in that after we have a good night."
