Rotundo Named USTFCCCA National T&F Athlete Of The Week

April 08, 2025 | Track & Field

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia freshman Manuela Rotundo has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Women's Athlete of the Week, according to an announcement.

This is the sixth time in program history that a female student-athlete from Georgia has been named the National Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season and second this season.  Fellow javelin thrower Lianna Davidson earned the honor two weeks ago.  It is also just the second time in NCAA DI award history that a program has had different student-athletes earn national weekly honors in consecutive weeks (South Carolina, 2024).

Rotundo, a native of Paysandu, Uruguay, competed in the second collegiate meet of her career and won to become the No. 2 all-time collegiate performer with a school record performance.  She sent her opening attempt 64.17 meters/210 feet, 6 inches, which ranks third on the current world list for 2025.  This performance comes two weeks after Rotundo's teammate Lianna Davidson set a school record of her own to be the No. 2 all-time collegiate performer.

What's Next For The Bulldogs?: The multi-event crew will have an opportunity to compete on April 11-12 vat the 44 Farms Team Invitational in College Station, Texas.
