ATHENS, Ga. — GymDogs Lily Smith and Ady Wahl each captured NCAA First Team All-American status as announced by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) on Friday.Â
Â
Smith, a sophomore from Limerick, Pa., earned her fifth overall honor after finishing fifth place overall on the floor event with a 9.9375 performance. This marks Smith's third First Team accolade, having secured the award on bars and beam at the 2024 NCAA Gymnastics Championship.Â
Â
Wahl, placing tenth overall on vault with a 9.8750, was named a First Team All-American in the event, her first award of its kind. It was the Zanesville, Ohio native's first time qualifying to nationals.Â
Â
"To be an All-American is not just a recognition of talent, it's a testament to the hard work, dedication and perseverance that Ady and Lily share on their journey to excellence," stated Co-Head Coach Cécile Canqueteau-Landi.Â
Â
Wahl and Smith are Landi's first All-Americans, capping off her inaugural season coaching in the NCAA and at Georgia.
Â
"I couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments, and I am looking forward to what next season holds for both them and the team," said Landi.
Â
The last time that the Georgia GymDogs had an NCAA First Team All-American on vault or floor was in 2018 with Sydney Snead (VT) and Sabrina Vega (FX).Â
