March 07, 2025 | Equestrian
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Georgia equestrian graduate student Sophia Pilla picked up her second Rider of the Month award after being tabbed Southeastern Conference Co-Flat Rider of the Month for February, the conference office announced Friday.
Pilla was previously named National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Flat Rider of the Month for her efforts in the arena throughout February.
The Ridgefield, Conn. native collected her second career SEC monthly honor after posted the only undefeated record for the Bulldogs last month.
The All-SEC rider launched herself to the top of the SEC standings in Flat with a 92-point ride against conference foe Texas A&M. This score is the second highest of all SEC Flat riders this year. Her ride also ties for the highest score in the event by a Bulldog this season.
Pilla is currently 8-3 this season with wins and is 4-2 against SEC opponents. She has picked up wins over all top-five teams in the NCEA rankings.
She concluded the regular season with a 91-point ride against No. 1 Auburn to win her ride and 11th career Most Outstanding Performer honor. She averaged a score of 90 throughout the month of February.
The Bulldogs will enjoy a three week break before traveling to Mill Spring, N.C. to host the SEC Championship at the Tryon International Equestrian Center. The meet will be a two-day event over March 28-29 and will conclude with an SEC Champion being crowned following Saturday's competition.
