ATHENS, Ga. – The 15^th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs defeated No. 17 Oklahoma State, 8-4, on Wednesday evening in a top 25 midweek showdown in front of 1,682 fans at Jack Turner Stadium.

The Bulldogs climb to 24-8 on the season.

Randi Roelling worked five and two-thirds innings in her start, allowing four runs on eight hits with five strikeouts.
Lilli Backes entered in the sixth inning with bases loaded and slammed the door on the Cowgirl rally. She closed the game en route to her first save of the season. With her seventh save as a Georgia Bulldog, Backes moves into sixth all-time in career saves at Georgia.
The offense scattered a season-high 14 hits. Jaydyn Goodwin and Dallis Goodnight each recorded three hits, which were season highs for the duo. Four other Bulldogs had two hits apiece: Tyler Ellison, Sarah Gordon, Emily Digby, and Paislie Allen.
Lyndi Rae Davis, Mua Williams, Allen, and Goodnight all drove in a run on the night.
The Cowgirl defense committed five errors, which allowed four Georgia runs to score on those plays.

On the team's 14-hit performance...
"A pretty good day against a really quality pitcher. I think it's a testament to the SEC and three straight weeks of playing top-10 teams and facing some of the top pitchers in the country. It doesn't ever get easy, but you get comfortable being in the fight, and we've been getting better. We've been doing a better job with our pitch selection, and I think our swings are starting to round back into shape a little bit. So, really proud of the way that we went at her today with our at-bats. We just kept applying pressure. I think we scored in four of the six innings or something like that. That's a pretty good job against a good team."

On scheduling quality competition in the midweek matchup...
"Well, I think it's good for college softball, first off. It's great for Athens and Bulldog Nation to get to see good teams here. I mean, we do it on the weekends, but it's just fun, and at the end of the day, competitors like to compete. I have a lot of respect for Kenny [Gajewski] and their program. They're competitive and I'd like to think that we are too. The opportunity to go compete, we're not going to shy away from that. Again. I have a lot of respect for their program. ... But, the good thing for us is you just stay in that toughness mode, as opposed to getting a little bit of a breather. You don't get a breather in the SEC. And so, playing a really good team like that tonight just keeps us in compete mode and hopefully we can carry that into Alabama this weekend."
