
Bray and Calderaro Qualify for NCAAs on 3-meter

AUBURN, Ala. – Junior Renato Calderaro and sophomore Matthew Bray clinched NCAA Championships berths on 3-meter Monday evening at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center.
Bray finished third on 3-meter with a score of 754.30, adding the event to his NCAA program after qualifying on 1-meter Sunday. Bray's top mark came in the third round of finals with a 74.80.
Calderaro clinched a trip to nationals for the third-consecutive year as he placed sixth at 742.85, highlighted by a 71.40 on his second dive of finals. Due to placing eighth on 1-meter, the Rome, Italy native will now compete on both springboards. In 2023, he finished 33rd on 3-meter and 46th on 1-meter for NC State at the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis.
Earlier in prelims, Bray finished third with a score of 376.05, while Calderaro placed eighth with a mark of 357.20. Freshman Bo Bridges finished 20th with a score of 320.25, followed by senior Rhett Hopkins in 33rd place at 288.45.
In the women's 1-meter prelims, junior Hannah Stumpf finished 27th with a score of 235.15. Stumpf's top marks came in the third round with a 44.20. Sophomore Michelle Cummo placed 33rd with a score of 224.65, followed by freshman Nyla Thompson in 35th at 216.70.
The NCAA Zone B Diving Championships continue Tuesday with the women's 3-meter and men's platform competitions. Stumpf and Cummo will compete on 3-meter, beginning at noon EDT, followed by Hopkins on platform at 4:30 p.m. The top seven women's and top six men's performers will qualify for NCAAs.
