Koski Sets School Record, Bulldogs Earn Two Medals at SECs

ATHENS, Ga. – A new school record and two trips to the podium marked Georgia's fourth day of competition at the 2025 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday at Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
 
Through four days of competition, both Georgia teams remain in fourth place with the men tallying 463 points and the women claiming 441.5 to date.

  • Women's 400y IM – Sophomore Elizabeth Tilt finished second in the 'C' final (18th overall) with a personal-best B-cut of 4:10.89. Senior Mia Abruzzo followed just behind in 19th overall with a season-best B-cut of 4:12.20.
  • Men's 400y IM – Graduate Jake Magahey earned his third bronze medal of the week with a season-best A-cut of 3:37.89. Freshman Drew Hitchcock placed sixth with a personal-best B-cut of 3:39.98, becoming the seventh-fastest performer in program history.
  • Women's 100y Butterfly – Junior Emma Norton finished 28th in prelims with a B-cut of 53.11, followed by fellow junior Olivia Della Torre in 39th with a time of 53.69.
  • Men's 100y Butterfly – Redshirt senior Luca Urlando took second with an A-cut time of 43.99, earning the ninth SEC medal of his career. Junior Ruard van Renen finished 14th with a season-best B-cut of 46.11, with senior Peter Sacca placing 22nd with a season-best B-cut of 46.41.
  • Women's 200y Freestyle – Freshman Marie Landreneau finished sixth with a B-cut time of 1:44.10 in her first career championship final. Senior Duné Coetzee won the consolation final with a season-best B-cut of 1:43.87, leading a pack of five Bulldogs in the race. Sophomore Shea Furse placed 11th with a season-best B-cut of 1:44.16, followed by junior Ieva Maluka (12th – 1:44.93), sophomore Helena Jones (13th – 1:45.21), and graduate Sloane Reinstein (16th – 1:45.69).
  • Men's 200y Freestyle – Sophomore Tomas Koski set a new school record with a fourth-place A-cut time of 1:30.70, breaking the mark of 1:30.72 set by Matthew Sates at the 2022 NCAA Championships. In prelims, Koski also finished fourth with a then-PB of 1:30.85. Senior Reese Branzell finished 20th with a season-best B-cut of 1:33.71.
  • Men's 1-meter – Junior Renato Calderaro finished 13th with a score of 337.65, followed by sophomore Matthew Bray at 326.60. In prelims, Calderaro placed ninth with a 329.00 with Bray finishing 11th at 324.50 and senior Rhett Hopkins coming in 24th place at 286.15.
