Georgia Builds Lead After Two Rounds of Hamptons Intercollegiate

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. — The Georgia men's golf team dominated the first round and remains in first place after the second round on day one of The Hamptons Intercollegiate tournament.

Georgia built a ten-shot lead after round one, sitting at 13-under. The Bulldogs shot 7-over in the second round but remained atop the leaderboard at a collective 6-under.

Senior Carter Loflin and junior Grayson Wood tied for the lead at 6-under after round one. Wood had eight birdies, while Loflin used five birdies and an eagle to build the momentum. This matches a career-best round for Loflin.

Freshman JD Culbreth was the only other Georgia player shooting under par in the first round. He was tied for third after shooting 3-under 69 during the first 18-holes.

James Earle led the Bulldogs in the second round, shooting 1-under, leaving him at 1-over heading into the third round.

Wood and Loflin slid to tied for third on the leaderboard after both shot 2-over in the second round.

Second round play was suspended due to darkness with only five teams finishing a full 36-holes. Georgia is in first and completed both rounds, while Ole Miss is one shot behind the Bulldogs with holes left to play.
The third and remainder of the second round will take place Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:50 a.m.
