QUICK KICKS
Tigers in Town
No. 17 Georgia opens a two-match homestand against LSU Sunday at Turner Soccer Complex. The Bulldogs are looking to earn their first win in the series since the 2021 regular season, when Mollie Belisle's overtime winner gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 overtime win over the then-No. 5 Tigers. Georgia has not defeated LSU in Athens since a 3-0 win on Oct. 9, 2016. In the most recent meeting in 2023 in Athens, the Tigers overcame a 2-0 deficit with three goals in the final 20 minutes to spoil Croix Bethune's Bulldog debut. In the 2025 season, Georgia has earned a result in each of its previous matches following a loss.

Rocky Topped
No. 17 Georgia controlled much of the possession against No. 5 Tennessee in Knoxville Thursday evening but were unable to make a dent on the board in a 2-0 defeat. The loss snapped Georgia's nine-match unbeaten stroke in road matches and was the program's first SEC road loss since South Carolina in October 2023. The Bulldogs outshot the Lady Vols, 12-7, but Georgia only mustered a season-low two shots on goal and allowed a season-high six corners. Tennessee struck first in the 23rd minute as Jenna Stayart put away a long service from Leah Klurman, followed by a goal from Ally Brown off a corner in the 80th minute.

Still Summertime in Athens
Redshirt junior midfielder Summer Denigan is in the midst of one of the greatest individual seasons in Georgia history. Through 13 matches, Denigan has tallied nine goals (ranked 10th nationally and first in the SEC) and an assist, while also ranking fifth nationally with four match-winning goals. In the Georgia record books, Denigan ranks fifth in winners with 10 in her career. Her converted penalty against Florida made her the 12th Bulldog to tally 20 career goals, while a 10th would make her the first player since Mollie Belisle to have double-digit scores in a season. With nine goals, she has already matched Margie Detrizio's team lead from last season.

Foiled by Florida
Before a historic crowd at the Turner Soccer Complex, Georgia saw its three-match winning streak to SEC play with a 2-2 draw against archrival Florida Sept. 26. The match attracted a crowd of 2,551 spectators, the largest since the complex's current grandstand was built. Summer Denigan opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a converted penalty, while Mya Townes used a deflected shot to earn her second score of the season in the 52nd minute. Despite a 14-9 shot advantage, the Gators fought back with a PK of their own and a late equalizer to tie the Bulldogs for the third-straight season. It was the first time this season Georgia failed to win a match in which it scored first and scored twice, along with being the first allowance of two goals this year.

Dawg Bites
  • Sunday's match marks the annual Alumni Day event, with over 30 former Bulldog players returning to Turner for a halftime recognition. Additionally, Georgia players will support the Mental Health Matters celebration with special T-shirts worn during pre-match warmups.
  • Freshman forward Ava Stack is currently camping with the Mexican U-17 national team in preparation for the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, beginning October 17 in Morocco.
  • With one more assist, Cate Hardin would become the first Bulldog with five or more assists in conference play since Randi-Lynn Bruso and Kelly Whitaker in 2006.
  • Georgia has posted two five-match unbeaten streaks this season, joining the 2022 campaign as the only seasons in program history with two separate five-plus stretches.
  • Graduate defender Laila Booker fully returned from injury to play a full 90 minutes Thursday at Tennessee. During her career at Yale, Booker played a full match on 37 occasions, including a nine-match streaking stretching from the end of the 2023 season to the beginning of 2024.
