No. 1 Bulldogs Set to Host ITA Kickoff Weekend Georgia Regional

ATHENS, Ga. — The No. 1-ranked Georgia women's tennis team is set to host two days of competition at the ITA Kickoff Weekend Georgia Regional on Jan. 25-26 at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Tennis Facility.

  • As the top-seed in the bracket, (1) Georgia will host (2) Princeton, (3) Harvard and (4) Charlotte in a four-team tournament-style bracket where the Bulldogs will play the 49ers in the first match on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 3 p.m. ET.
  • The winner of Saturday's matches will face on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. with a chance to punch a ticket to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on the line.
  • The Bulldogs don a 29-1 overall record as well as an undefeated 28-0 home mark in ITA Kickoff Weekend matches since the competition's inaugural season in 2009-10.
  • Georgia lead the all-time series 1-0 against Charlotte with its sole match coming in a 7-0 sweep on Feb. 19, 2004.
  • Against Princeton and Harvard, the Bulldogs trail 0-1 all-time against the Tigers while owning a 3-1 mark against the Crimson.

Georgia opened its 2025 spring season in dominant fashion with a 4-0 sweep of in-state rival Georgia Tech at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Tennis Facility. The Bulldogs improved to 31-6 all-time against the Yellow Jackets, winning its last seven meetings while taking 12 of the last 14 in the series. Doubles wins by Guillermina Grant/Sofia Rojs (court two) and Aysegul Mert/Dasha Vidmanova (court one) secured the doubles point for Georgia before the Bulldogs dominated in singles, taking five of six first set followed by wins from No. 1 Vidmanova (court one), Mert (court three), and Rojas (court six).
 
About the ITA Kickoff Weekend
The ITA Kickoff Weekend event serves as the beginning of the dual match season for college tennis. 120 teams will compete across 30 sites for a spot in the ITA Men's and Women's Indoor Championships. Georgia has been a host site in all but two editions since the competition's inaugural season in 2009-10. The Bulldogs are 28-0 as hosts while owning a 29-1 record overall in the spring event. On the path, the Bulldogs own four National Indoor titles (1994, 1995, 2002, 2019) in 33 appearances, dating back to its inception in 1988.

No. 1 Georgia enters the weekend with five Bulldogs listed in the latest ITA player rankings. In singles, Dasha Vidmanova heads the top of the list at No. 1 followed by Anastasiia Lopata at No. 29 and Guillermina Grant at No. 60. In doubles, Guillermina Grant and Aysegul Mert slot in at No. 19 while Mert and Hayden Mulberry come in at No. 43.
