Collins Earns Outstanding Scholar Athlete Award

ATHENS, GA.----- Former Georgia All-America catcher/first baseman/outfielder Corey Collins will be honored Saturday in Atlanta as the Most Outstanding Scholar Athlete by the Braves 400 Fan Club.
Collins, who earned Academic All-SEC honors as a criminal justice and sociology major, will receive the award during the 60th Eddie Glennon "Gameboree" in Atlanta. Along with honoring selected Braves Minor Leaguers, the club presents various awards and scholarships to baseball players in the state of Georgia.
A Suwanee native, Collins was a sixth-round draft pick of the New York Mets this past July following a standout career with the Bulldogs. In his senior season, he became the first Southeastern Conference player to lead the NCAA in on-base percentage with a .574 mark in 2024. He appeared in 195 games in his Georgia career, including 184 starts while posting a .289 batting average with 45 home runs, 31 doubles and 152 RBI.
The 6-3, 236-pounder was named a Second Team All-American by Baseball America as a first baseman in 2024. He posted a career-year in batting .354 with 20 home runs, 58 RBI, 56 walks and a school record 28 hit by pitches. Collins appeared in 52 games with 46 starts at five different positions for the 10th-ranked Bulldogs. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Athens Regional and was named to the regional All-Tournament Team. Collins' 45 career home runs rank fourth in school history. He tied a school record with three home runs in a game, doing it in his first three at bats against Wofford including leading off the game.
The 400 Fan Club formed in March 1965, a year prior to the Braves first season in Atlanta, and with an initial goal of 400 members. As a booster club supporting and promoting the Braves, the Club was known as the Braves 400 Club until 2017 when the Club registered a new name and logo, the Atlanta 400 Baseball Fan Club.
