Fast Facts
  • The No 7/11 Georgia swimming and diving teams return to competition this Saturday against UNC Wilmington. The Bulldog swimmers last competed one month ago at Texas, falling in a sweep to the Longhorns, while the divers recently hosted the Georgia Diving Invitational. UNC Wilmington last competed in November with the swimmers competing at the Gamecock Invitational and the divers competing at the George Mason Patriot Invitational.
  • At Texas, the Georgia women's distance group continued its outstanding season, highlighted by senior Abby McCulloh notching a new personal-best time of 9:25.14 in the 1,000-yard freestyle, the second-fastest time in program history. Fellow seniors Rachel Stege and Duné Coetzee followed behind in third (9:38.31) and fourth (9:39.16). Later, in the 500y freestyle, Stege touched first with a B-cut time of 4:37.83, leading a top-four Bulldog sweep of McCulloh, Coetzee, and graduate Sloane Reinstein.
  • Junior Ieva Maluka turned in a terrific day, starting with a new PB of 1:55.09 in the 200y butterfly, followed by a second-place finish in the 200y backstroke and a winning time of 1:56.02 in the 200y IM, making her the 10th-fastest performer in program history.
  • Redshirt senior Luca Urlando returned to action with a strong performance, beginning with a second-place B-cut of 45.34 in the 100y backstroke. He then posted a new PB of 1:39.12 in the 200y backstroke, becoming the fourth-fastest performer in program history. He concluded the day with a season-best time of 1:41.83 in the 200y IM.
  • Graduate Jake Magahey prevailed in the 200y butterfly with a B-cut of 1:41.13. Freshman Drew Hitchcock finished third with a PB of 1:42.93, followed by another PB of 47.10 in the 100y butterfly. Magahey also placed third in the 1,000y freestyle and fourth in the 500y freestyle.
  • At the Georgia Diving Invitational, senior Rhett Hopkins and junior Renato Calderaro advanced to the finals in all three events, with Calderaro finishing third on 1-meter. Senior Allen Mann took third on platform, while sophomore Matthew Bray finished fourth on 1-meter and 3-meter. Junior Hannah Stumpf placed third on 3-meter and qualified for Zones on platform with a personal-best mark of 246.55.
