Hammonds continuing strong season in Korea
ATHENS, Ga, – Former Bulldogs who have ascended to the professional ranks continue contributing to their respective teams in the NBA and overseas leagues in Europe and Asia.
2020 first-overall pick Anthony Edwards ranks third throughout the association in 3-pointers made per game, draining 4.2 shots from deep for Minnesota. The Timberwolves are off to a 20-18 start after reaching the Western Conference Finals of last season's playoffs. Edwards currently leads all shooting guards in points per game with 25.4.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been a key contributor for the Orlando Magic, who are leading the Eastern Conference Southeast Division with a 22-18 record. KCP is averaging 9.1 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and a team-leading 1.6 steals per game in his first season with the Magic.
Nicolas Claxton has battled through a back injury sustained over the summer but has missed just six of the Brooklyn Nets' 34 games. After nearly averaging a double-double last season, Claxton is currently posting 9.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 blocks per game.
Internationally, 14 Bulldogs are well into their seasons.
Jailyn Ingram, a Madison, Ga., native, is averaging 13.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists through 23 games for the Tachikawa Dice in the Japanese B3 league. Ingram, who wrapped up two seasons with the Bulldogs in 2023, ranks second on the 13-12 Dice in points and third in rebounds.
Yante Maten, the 2018 SEC Player of the Year, plays for the San-En NeoPhoenix in Japan's B1 league, just three hours from Ingram. Maten leads the NeoPhoenix and ranks fourth in the league in blocks, while also ranking second on the team in points. He is averaging 15.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game, helping San-En to a league-best 25-4 record.
Aaron Cook is averaging 11.9 points, 4.9 assists, 2 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game for ZZ Leiden in the Netherlands. The team holds an 8-10 record and sits 12th in the BNXT League standings.
Tyree Crump started the 2024-25 season by averaging 13.3 points, 1,.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in the Arab Club Championship. He then moved to the Matero Magic in Zambia's D1 league and finally to the Mighty Barrolle of Liberia's D1 league, where he's collected 15.3 points, 5.3 assists, 5.0 boards, and 1.7 steals through three games.
Nemanja "Semi" Djurisic is currently playing in Russia for Pari Nizhny Novgorod, which is 11-13 as of Jan. 12 and tied for sixth VTB standings. Djurisic is averaging 10.5 points, 4.6 boards and 3 assists.
Mike Edwards is off to a solid start for KK Pelister Sport Bitola, which competes in North Macedonia's PRVA League and the ABA's League 2. Playing in his seventh country (North Macedonia, Russia, United States, Azerbaijan, Canada, Kosovo, and Russia), Edwards is averaging 14.7 points and 6 rebounds in ABA action and 10.7 points and 5.9 rebounds in PRVA play.
J.J. Frazier is enjoying another standout season in Turkey. He is playing for Bordo Sportive Balikesir and scoring a team-leading 21.7 points, as well as 7.0 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.1 steals through 19 games.
Rayshaun Hammonds leads his Suwon KT Sonicboom squad in scoring and rebounding with 18.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per game through four East Asia Super League contests. In 26 games in the South Korea KBL, Hammonds is averaging 19 points,10.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
Jordan Harris has played in 12 games this season for SSD Real Sebastiani Rieti in Italy's Serie A and A2, averaging 8.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game in Seria A, while posting 10.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3 assists in Seria A2.
