July 09, 2024 | Track & Field

ATHENS, Ga. --- Bulldog sprinter Kaila Jackson and thrower Stephanie Ratcliffe have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America teams for track & field and cross country, according to an announcement Tuesday.

Jackson was a Second Team Academic All-American while Ratcliffe was a Third Team selection.  This continues a banner week for Ratcliffe who was named to her country's Olympic team in the hammer throw.

Ratcliffe and Jackson were two of six Georgia team members named to this year's CSC All-District Team.  Dating back to 2002, they are the 14th and 15th All-America recognitions for the Lady Bulldogs.  High jumper Shelby Tyler was the last Georgia woman before this year's pair after she garnered Third Team honors in 2022.

The men's All-America teams are released on Wednesday.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
Jackson, a native of Redford, Mich. posted a 3.58 GPA in her intended Journalism major.  In addition to earning a combined four First Team All-America certificates in the 60-meter dash, 100m and 200m indoors and outdoors in 2024, Jackson set school records in both the 60m (7.07) and the 100m (10.95) and scored in four separate Southeastern Conference individual events.

Ratcliffe, a native of Melbourne, Australia, has posted a 4.00 GPA in her Master of Science (Business Analytics) program after registering a 3.9 during her undergraduate career at Harvard.  She was the runner-up at this year's SEC Outdoor Championships in the hammer after launching an effort of 67.68 meters/222 feet.  Following the collegiate season, Ratcliffe established a fresh personal record of 70.69m/231-11 to win the Portland Track Festival and improve her No. 2 spot in the school record books.
