Bulldogs Shatter Two School Records In Outdoor Regular Season Finale At LSU Invitational

BATON ROUGE, La. --- Pole vaulter Nikolai van Huyssteen and the women's 4x400-meter relay team of Aaliyah Butler, Kimberly Harris, Sydney Harris, and Haley Tate set new school records in their respective events at the LSU Invitational, highlighting a Saturday afternoon that featured three event wins and six improvements to Georgia's all-time top-10 lists. The Bulldogs also competed in the final day of the Music City Challenge to wrap up the outdoor regular season in Nashville, Tenn.

  • Van Huyssteen cleared a height of 5.41 meters/17 feet, 9 inches to win the pole vault in Baton Rouge. The junior from Paarl, South Africa, matched David Lemen's mark from the 2001 Sea Ray Relays, which went untouched for 23 years as Georgia's outright school record. Van Huyssteen reached the school record mark on his first attempt.
  • Butler, Kimberly Harris, Sydney Harris, and Tate set the 4x400m relay record in Georgia's final event of the LSU Invitational, clocking a third-place time of 3:27.02. The Lady Bulldog quartet shattered the previous school record of 3:29.90, set by Butler, Tate, Brandee Presley, and Dominique Mustin, by nearly three seconds.
  • The Georgia throwers brought home two victories and made one improvement to the school record books at LSU. Kelsie Murrell-Ross won the shot put with a mark of 17.63m/57-10.25 on her fourth attempt while Erin McMeniman threw the javelin 49.92m/163-9 on her third try for her second straight victory in the event. Alexander Kolesnikoff finished runner-up in the shot put on the men's side, improving his No. 8 mark in Georgia history to 19.41m/63-8.25.
  • In addition to their school record in the 4x400m, Kimberly and Sydney Harris recorded the No. 5 and No. 10 times in Georgia history in the 400-meter dash. The sisters placed sixth and 13th overall in the 400m, posting times of 51.94 and 53.22, respectively.
  • Dominique Mustin placed runner-up in the 400m hurdles at LSU, crossing the finish line in 56.52 to improve her No. 2 time in program history.

The Bulldogs will return to Gainesville, Fla., for the second time this season to open the postseason at the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships. The meet will take place from May 9-11 on the campus of the University of Florida.
