Key Quote Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson
On today's outcome…
"Our guys, they're really good at responding. We had, obviously, a lot of adversity on the road in this league for a while. So, being able to come out today in a really good game. We jump out, they punch back, tie it up, and then we are able to punch back again. Credit to our offense, but also Kolten Smith was electric today."
On coming back from yesterday's loss…
"We weren't happy with how we finished yesterday off, but we show up every day like it's the most important game of the year and take it one day at a time."
On his performance today…
"I was trying to make every pitch the most important pitch of the game. That's about it—taking it one pitch at a time…I'm not too worried about stats. Everytime you come out it's a new day. I know how good I am, and I know that if I execute my pitches and get guys out, that's all I have to do."
On coming back from yesterday's loss…
"That game got away from us; we beat ourselves. I definitely think it put a chip on our shoulder and we came out today on fire."
On the fire in this team…
"That's just the type of team we are. We try to play with a chip on our shoulder and yesterday definitely helped us with that."
