ATHENS, Ga. – Following an outstanding performance at the SEC Championships, the University of Georgia diving team hosts 17 area institutions at the 2024 NCAA Division I Zone B Diving Championships this week at Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

The Zone B Championships run Sunday, March 10 through Wednesday, March 13, beginning with the women's 1-meter at 2 p.m. on Sunday. On Monday and Tuesday, the men's session begins at 11 a.m., followed by women's events at 3:15 p.m. The final day of competition features the men's platform at 11 a.m. Additionally, team exhibition events for both men and women will be held on Sunday and Wednesday. Live results will be available on DiveMeets.com.

During the competition, the top 18 finishers in the preliminary round will advance to the final round. In the men's competition, the top seven finishers on both springboards will advance to the NCAA Championships, while the top 10 will move on to Indianapolis. In the women's competition, the top 10 on 1-meter, top eight on 3-meter, and top seven on platform will return to Gabrielsen for next week's NCAA Championships.

All seven members of the Georgia diving team will compete at Zones, with five divers qualified in all three events. At the SEC Championships in Auburn, the Bulldog divers combined for 182 points, the program's most since 2018. Senior Meghan Wenzel finished fourth on 1-meter, the best individual finish since 2019, while also winning the platform consolation final.

Junior Nolan Lewis posted a new personal-best mark on 3-meter as he finished sixth overall. Sophomore Hannah Stumpf reached consolation finals on both springboards, while junior Rhett Hopkins and freshman Matthew Bray reached B finals on 1-meter. Junior Allen Mann and freshman Michelle Cummo will also compete at Zones, with Mann competing on all three platforms.

At last year's Zones in Knoxville, Wenzel qualified for NCAAs for the second-consecutive year as she finished sixth on 1-meter and seventh on platform, while Stumpf reached finals on both springboards. On the men's side, Mann contended for a platform berth, with Lewis joining him in the platform final.

Following Zones, the women's swimming and diving team remains home in Athens for the NCAA Women's Championships on March 20-23 at Gabrielsen, followed by the NCAA Men's Championships in Indianapolis on March 27-30.
