Corey Collins Named SEC Player of the Week

ATHENS-----University of Georgia senior Corey Collins has been named the Southeastern Conference Baseball Player of the Week; the league announced Monday.
Collins, a 6-3, 236-pound first baseman, tallied an SEC best 29 total bases, six home runs, 13 RBI, 11 hits and eight runs in helping No. 24 Georgia to a 4-0 week including a sweep of eighth-ranked Alabama. Collins batted .647 (11-for-17) for the week and .583 (7-for-12) against the Crimson Tide. Also, he provided perfect fielding in 27 total chances.
Collins started off three games with a home run, doing it twice in the Alabama series and once against Wofford. In an 18-6 win over the Terriers, he homered in his first three at bats and posted a career-best eight RBI. For the year, Collins is batting .425-10-23 with a 1.175 slugging percentage and .615 on base percentage in 17 games including 11 starts.
Georgia made its debut in a couple of national top 25 polls Monday, checking in at No. 24 in both Baseball America and the USA TODAY Sports Top 25 rankings.
Up next, No. 24 Georgia (21-4, 3-3 SEC) plays host to Mercer (14-9) Tuesday. First pitch at Foley Field will be at 5:02 p.m. and be streamed on SECN+ and available on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network.
