Bulldogs Wrap Up First Day of Last Chance Meet

ATHENS, Ga. – Strong sprint performances led the day as the University of Georgia swimming and diving teams began competition at the 2024 Bulldog Invitational Last Chance Meet Saturday at Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
 
The Bulldogs' top showings came in the 50-yard freestyle, highlighted by graduate Miles Simon's season-best B-cut of 19.47, moving him into fourth all-time in program history. On the women's side, junior Briana Roberson set a new PB at 22.44 in finals, while senior Julianna Stephens also notched a new PB of 22.53 in morning prelims.
 
In the 200y butterfly time trials, graduate Bradley Dunham improved his B-cut with a personal-best time of 1:42.45. In other time trials, fellow graduate Millie Sansome dropped season-best times in the 100y backstroke (52.40) and 200y backstroke (1:55.40). Senior Wesley Ng also set a new season-best time in the men's 100y back at 45.60. In the men's 200y IM, fifth-year Zach Hils bested his previous season best with a B-cut of 1:42.58.
 
Sophomore Roman Valdez earned his first B-cut of the season with a PB of 46.88 in the 100y butterfly, while freshman Tristan DenBrok also grabbed a provisional cut of 4:24.03 in the 500y freestyle. Graduate Olivia Smith posted the Bulldogs' top time in the women's 100y butterfly with a PB of 54.44. In other personal bests, fifth-year Zoie Hartman added a B-cut in the 200y backstroke at 1:54.39, while sophomore Clayton Whetstine turned in a 1:48.79 in the 200y IM.
 
The Bulldog Invitational concludes Sunday with prelims at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 4 p.m. Admission is free for all spectators at Gabrielsen. Live results are available to paid subscribers on MeetMobile.
