COLUMBIA, Mo. — The No. 11 Georgia women's tennis team opened its Southeastern Conference slate in dominant fashion after sweeping Missouri 4-0 at the Country Club of Columbia on Friday.

The win marks first-year head coach Drake Bernstein's first career conference match victory, improving the Bulldogs' (6-3, 1-0 SEC) all-time record against the Tigers (2-9, 0-1 SEC) to 12-0 while tallying a sweep in back-to-back seasons.

For the fifth-consecutive match, Georgia opened the day by earning doubles point.

On court one, the No. 22 duo of Aysegul Mert and Dasha Vidmanova bounced back into the win column with a dominant 6-2 ranked victory over No. 24 Inah Canete and Mae Canete (Missouri).

With two tightly contested matches on courts two and three, the No. 23 tandem of Mai Nirundorn and Guillermina Grant came back from a 4-1 deficit to earn a 6-4 victory over Roma Cardenas Rifka and Gabriela Martinez (Missouri) to secure the doubles point for the Bulldogs.

Heading into singles play, Georgia sparked full momentum in its favor as it took four first sets across courts 2-5.

On court four, Grant jumped out to an early lead and was a step ahead from the start as she cruised past Emelie Schwarte (Missouri) 6-2, 6-2, extending her winning streak to four matches.

With matches on courts two, three and five sitting one game away from a win, Mert stepped up in a big way as she defeated Andrea Artimedi (Missouri) 6-1, 6-2 to secure a victory in her dual singles debut for the Bulldogs.

Within a minute, No. 63 Mell Reasco capped off her own strong outing with a 6-2, 6-3 win over I. Canete (Missouri) to grab the clincher for Georgia.
