Current, Former Bulldogs Set For USATF Championships

ATHENS, Ga. --- A wide variety of current and former Georgia track and field athletes are set to compete at the USATF Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., Thursday through Sunday.
 
Matthew Boling (200-meter dash, 400m), Caleb Cavanaugh (400mH), Kyle Garland (decathlon), Marc Minichello (javelin), Clay Pender (800m) and Will Sumner (800m) will represent the Bulldog men from the 2023 Bulldog team.  
 
While Titiana Marsh (long jump, triple jump) will represent the current Georgia women in the Championships, freshmen Kaila Jackson (100m, 200m) and Haley Tate (400m) will also compete for the Lady Bulldogs in the USATF Under-20 Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Another group of former Georgia standouts will also be competing at Hayward Field over the next four days. Darius Carbin (high jump), Christian Harrison (800m), Lynna Irby-Jackson (400m), Keturah Orji (triple jump), Devon Williams (decathlon) and Kendal Williams (100m, 200m) will be in the field with qualifications to the coming World Athletics Championships in Budapest on Aug. 19-27 on the line.
 
Garland and Devon Williams will start the action for the Bulldogs in the first event of the decathlon (100m) on Thursday at 2:45 p.m. ET.  The decathletes will complete the long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m on day one before lining up in the 100m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500m on Friday.
 
Sumner and Pender will kick off the open action for Georgia in the first round of the men's 800m on Thursday at 5:52 p.m.  
 
Irby-Jackson will be the first female with a Georgia affiliation on the track on Thursday at 7:56 p.m. as she competes in the opening round of the women's 400m.
 
Those athletes who finish in the top three and have the qualifying standards (time or mark) for their events will be eligible to be selected for Team USA as the team is built for the World Athletics Championships.
