Bulldog 2024 Indoor, Outdoor Track Schedules Announced

July 19, 2023 | Track & Field

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia's 2024 indoor and outdoor track and field schedules have been released, according to an announcement from Director of Track & Field Caryl Smith Gilbert.

The Bulldogs will be making a stop in 16 different cities during the next year's indoor and outdoor regular seasons starting on the second weekend of January 2024 and leading up to the Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris during August 2024.

Three of the four postseason stops to conclude the indoor and outdoor campaigns for Georgia and its national competition come in relatively familiar spots.  The Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships (Feb. 23-24) will be in Fayetteville, Ark., where it has been 10 times since 2000.  The SEC outdoor meet (May 9-11) is slated to be on Florida's campus.  While the Bulldogs will have already traveled to Gainesville, Fla., once during the outdoor regular season for the Tom Jones Invitational (April 12-13), the SEC Outdoor Championships were last held in Florida in 2009.

The collegiate season will end in Eugene, Ore., for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.  Austin was the site of the 2023 national meet, but Oregon has played host to the meet nine times since 2010 and is set to be the site of NCAAs in 2025-26 as well.

The 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships will take Georgia to a spot it has never been for indoor Nationals in Boston, Mass.  The meet will be at the Boston Landing Track & Field Complex on March 8-9.

The Bulldogs will begin their 2024 indoor campaign at the Clemson Invite on Jan. 12-13.  Georgia will also return to Clemson, S.C., for the Tiger Paw Invite on Feb. 9-10.  UGA will stay in the state of South Carolina week two for the Carolina Challenge in Columbia on Jan. 19-20 while a distance contingent will make a trip to Nashville, Tenn., for the Vanderbilt Invitational on the same weekend.  The Bulldogs will get an opportunity to compete at the site of SECs for the Razorback Invitational on Jan. 26-27 to wrap up their first month.

The final two weekends of the indoor season will see a distance group return to Nashville for the Music City Challenge (Feb. 9-10) while another group is at Tiger Paw.  Then, a group will go to Fayetteville again for the Arkansas Qualifier on Feb. 16 to conclude the regular season.

Following the indoor postseason, Georgia cranks up its outdoor campaign the next weekend at the Black & Gold Invitational in Orlando, Fla., on March 15-16.  In addition, a distance group will stay in-state in Atlanta to compete at the Yellow Jacket Invitational that same weekend.  Another distance-based meet will be at the Raleigh Relays on March 21-23 while other Bulldog members will make the trip south to the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational in Miami, Fla., on March 23.

Georgia will make the first of two stops in Baton Rouge when it competes in the Battle on the Bayou on March 29-30.  The Bulldogs will return to the Tigers' campus for the LSU Invitational on April 27.  While a distance contingent will compete at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C., on April 4-6, the multi-events crew will open at the Jim Click Multis meet in Tucson, Ariz., on April 4-5.

The Bulldogs' next three meets will keep them closer to home: Tom Jones Invitational (Gainesville, Fla. – April 12-13), Wake Forest Invitational (Winston-Salem, N.C. – April 19), Georgia Tech Invitational (Atlanta – April 19-20).  The Georgia Tech and Wake Forest meets will be geared towards Georgia's distance corps.

Following the SEC meet in Gainesville, Kentucky will play host to the NCAA East Prelims in Lexington on May 22-25.  The NCAA Championships will then be in Eugene before the U.S. Olympic Team Trials (date TBD).
