
Georgia Battles Clemson Tuesday At Foley Field

ATHENS-----Â Georgia welcomes Clemson Tuesday to Foley Field in the annual home-and-home series. First pitch will be at 7:02 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network and be available on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network.
      The Bulldogs (18-14) are coming off their first SEC series win of the season after knocking off No. 10 Kentucky this past weekend at Foley Field to finish 3-1 on the week. The Tigers (19-14) are 5-5 in their last 10 games including going 3-1 last week, beating No. 17 Coastal Carolina in Clemson and claiming a road series over Florida State. In earlier ACC action this season, the Tigers went 1-2 against Duke and Georgia Tech and were swept at home by second-ranked Wake Forest.
      Series History: Georgia leads the all-time series with Clemson 124-109-2 in records dating to 1900. The Tigers won both meetings last year to sweep the season series for the first time since 2017. Georgia had posted three consecutive sweeps for a six-game winning streak over the Tigers from 2018-21. The teams did not play in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Also of note, the 2019 game in Athens was one for the school record books. Georgia outlasted the Tigers 3-2 in 20 innings!
      On The Mound: Junior LHP Luke Wagner (1-1, 8.68 ERA) will be making his first start of 2023 after nine relief outings. Wagner has made 16 starts in his Bulldog career. The Tigers will counter with sophomore LHP Rocco Reid (0-1, 12.46 ERA).  For the season, the Bulldogs have a 6.14 ERA with 316 strikeouts and 160 walks. Opponents are batting .265 against the Bulldogs. CU sports a 4.70 ERA with 317 strikeouts and 130 walks. Opponents are hitting .263 against the Tigers.
      At The Plate: Georgia redshirt-freshman OF/1B Charlie Condon (.453-13-45) ranks among the national leaders in several offensive categories. He has reached base safely in 31 games (all but the season opener). He had a 24-game hitting streak end in the road series against No. 4 Vanderbilt. Condon's hitting streak ranked third best in school history behind Josh Hudson's 28-game streak in 1999 and Mark Thornhill's 26-game streak in 2001. Graduate OF Connor Tate ranks second on the club in batting at .396 plus has hit 11 home runs with 33 RBI. Graduate INF Will David (.310-3-14) and junior 3B/1B Parks Harber (.303-10-34) round out the group hitting at least .300. The Bulldogs are fielding .979.
      Georgia is batting .299 with 57 home runs, a .397 on base percentage and is 16-for-19 in stolen base attempts. Clemson is batting .291 with 29 home runs, a .390 on base percentage and is 59-for-73 in stolen base attempts. Clemson's leading hitter is freshman centerfielder Cam Cannarella (.427-3-26, 17 SB). The top power threat is junior 1B/LHP Caden Grice (.355-8-28). The Tigers are fielding .974.
      Coaching Ties: Clemson head coach Erik Bakich is in his first season with the Tigers after spending 10 years at Michigan. Georgia assistant coach Sean Kenny served as Michigan's pitching coach under Bakich from 2013-17 and with him at Maryland from 2010-12. Since the 2018 season, Kenny has been the pitching coach for the Bulldogs and Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin.
