Bulldogs Finish Fifth in Linger Longer Invitational

EATONTON, Ga. — The University of Georgia men's golf team carded a 9-over-par 297 on Tuesday to finish tied for fifth in the team standings following the final round of the Linger Longer Invitational at Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee.
No. 17 Alabama earned the team title with a three-round total of 14-under-par 850 (283-287-280), while No. 11 Georgia Tech finished second at 6-under-par 858 (292-285-281) and top-ranked Vanderbilt finished third at even-par 864 (286-286-292). The Bulldogs fell three spots in the team standing in the final round to finish ninth at 4-over-par 868 (283-288-297). Alabama's Nick Dunlap claimed individual medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 10-under-par 206 (70-66-70).
Junior Caleb Manuel paced the Bulldogs with a final round of 1-under-par 71. He was followed by graduate Michael Shears at 2-over-par 74, senior Ben van Wyk and Sophomore Maxwell Ford at 3-over-par 75, senior Connor Creasy and freshman Carter Loflin at 4-over-par 76, and sophomore Buck Brumlow at 5-over-par 77.
Creasy lead Georgia with a 54-hole score of 3-under-par 213 (68-69-76) to finish tied for sixth. Fellow senior van Wyk finished tied for 14th at 1-over-par 217 (69-73-75). Manuel finished tied for 18th at 2-over par 218 (72-75-71), while Ford finished tied for 33rd at 5-over-par 221 (75-71-75) and Loflin finished tied for 55th at 11-over-par 227 (74-77-76).
Playing as individuals, Brumlow finished tied for 40th at 7-over-par 223 (73-73-77), while Shears finished tied for 72nd at 16-over-par 232 (81-77-74).
The Bulldogs return to action when they compete in the Calusa Cup on April 2-4 (Sunday-Tuesday) in Naples, Florida.
