Evans Signs Pro Contract with Atlanta Vibe
December 21, 2023 | Volleyball
ATLANTA – The Atlanta Vibe has signed University of Georgia alumna Kacie Evans to an undrafted free agent contract ahead of the 2024 Pro Volleyball Federation season, the club announced Thursday.
The Atlanta Vibe is one of seven inaugural teams competing in the Professional Volleyball Federation's first season, beginning play in January 2024. The Vibe is Atlanta's newest professional team and only the second fully funded professional women's team in the city. The Vibe's first home match is set for Feb. 1 at Gas South Arena against the San Diego Mojo. Training camp begins Jan. 2.
Evans, a native of Wadsworth, Ohio, is the only Bulldog on the Vibe roster. At Georgia, she was a 2022 All-American and a three-time All-SEC performer. Her name is scattered all over Georgia's record book both for her career honors and awards as well as appearing in multiple top 10 categories. She holds the record for most sets played at Georgia and is a member of the 2,000 Point Club, 1,000 Kill Club, and 1,000 Dig Clubs.
She became just the fourth Bulldog in the program history to garner AVCA All-America status in 2022 and the first in 18 years. In her career, she was named All-SEC three times and AVCA All-Southeast Region twice. She was the 2019 SEC and Southeast Region Freshman of the Year and on the 2019 SEC All-Freshman Team. She earned weekly conference honors a total of eight times and is a multi-time member of the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll. Following the 2023 season, she was named a member of the SEC Volleyball Community Service Team.
Among active NCAA Division I players in 2023, Evans ranked 12th in career kills (1,768), 15th in service aces (166), and 22nd in total attacks (4,527).
Evans earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science in Spring 2023. This past season, she began working toward her Master of Kinesiology (Sport Pedagogy).
