Georgia Gymnastics Adds Tremendous Talent on Signing Day

ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia gymnastics program secures adds tremendous talent with the signing of three gymnasts, head coach Courtney Kupets Carter announced on Wednesday. 
 
The signees include Nyla Aquino of Boston, Massachusetts, Brooke Gleichowski of Gainesville, Florida, andHarlyn Tomlin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  
 
"We are thrilled about this signing class." Kupets Carter said. "Our staff has worked extremely hard and we're ready to get to work with these talented athletes. This is an exciting time for Georgia Gymnastics and these gymnasts are a wonderful addition to what we are building. They have proven themselves as outstanding competitors on all four events and will impact our line-ups and team immediately. We have the best environment in college gymnastics, and I can't wait to see them shine in Stegeman Coliseum."
 
Harlyn "Harley" Tomlin, a four-star recruit from Pittsburgh, signs to be a GymDog after training at Xquisite Gymnastics.  She is a two-time member of the Region 7 All-Star team where she was crowned All-around Champion in 2022 and 2023. Tomlin is also a three-time USA Gymnastics Developmental Program Nationals qualifier.  She is the daughter of Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. 
 
"As soon as I stepped on campus I knew that I wanted to spend my college career in Athens," Tomlin said. "The sense of pride and team atmosphere is amazing and I knew that I couldn't wait to be a part of such a prestigious team!"
 
Nyla Aquino, a three-star recruit from Boston, signs with Georgia after training at Elite Gymnastics Academy. She finished second in the nation on vault at the 2023 Level 10 DP Nationals with a Tsuk Full- the only gymnast in her region to compete the skill.  She was also a state champion on beam, floor, and vault and regional champion on vault and floor in 2023.  She was a Top 100 all-around and vault finisher with 16 total Top-100 scores in 2022. Also in 2022 she was a regional champion on vault, bars, floor, and all-around.  
 
"Aside from the incredible athletic reputation, as soon as I stepped on campus for the first time I was in awe of the atmosphere," Aquino said. "Everyone who is there, loves it. It so evident in the coaching and rest of the staff that they strive to do whatever it takes to not only be the best they can be but to also make the team and school feel like a family. Like home. There is so much love and energy that flourishes from all areas of the school, it's hard not to choose UGA."
 
Brooke Gleichowski, a three-star recruit from Gainesville, Florida, signs to be a GymDog after training at Brandy Johnson's Gymnastics.  She was a 2022 and 2023 DP National Qualifier on Beam as well as a floor qualifier in 2022 where she finished fourth.  Additionally, she was the Eastern National Beam Champion in 2019.  
 
"I chose the University of Georgia because it ultimately felt like home," Gleichowski said. "I love how well-rounded Georgia is as a university, and I know that it's a place where I will be valued not only as a student-athlete, but also a person."
