Ward, Atkins Named to Senior Bowl 75th Anniversary Team

Athens, GA. -- Former Georgia football lettermen Hines Ward and Geno Atkins have been selected for the Senior Bowl's 75th Anniversary Team, the Senior Bowl Committee announced on Tuesday.
The selection process for the anniversary team was comprised of an online fan vote, along with input from the National Football League general managers and personnel and the Senior Bowl Committee and staff.
The 75th anniversary team, including the two former Bulldogs, consists of 19 Pro Football Hall of Famers, 119 All-Pro First Team selections, 63 All-Pro Second Team selections, and 253 Pro Bowl selections.
The 75th Anniversary Team will be honored during halftime of the 2024 Senior Bowl on February 3rd in Mobile, Ala.
Ward, a 1998 participant in the Senior Bowl, was a Coaches' All-SEC first team and AP All-SEC second team recipient during his final season at Georgia in 1997. During his senior season, he led the Bulldogs in receiving, tallying 55 receptions for 715 yards and six touchdowns. Atkins, a 2010 Senior Bowl member, was selected to the AP's All-SEC Second Team in his senior season and recorded 36 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and three sacks in 2009.
Upon a successful career at Georgia, Ward was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He would go on to play 14 seasons in the NFL and become a two-time Super Bowl Champion and win Super Bowl MVP in 2006. Atkins was chosen in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals and played 11 seasons as a professional. He was selected to the Pro Bowl eight times and the All-Pro First Team twice.
Since 1950, Georgia has had 121 players selected to the Senior Bowl.
