Mann and Lewis Reach Platform Finals on Closing Day of Georgia Invite

ATHENS, Ga. – Highlighted by a strong closing performance by the men on platform, the University of Georgia diving team concluded action at the Georgia Diving Invitational Thursday at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
Sophomore Allen Mann completed his first week as a Bulldog with a sixth-place finish on the platform, posting a final score of 326.25. Mann scored a 60.90 on his second dive and posted three 57.00 marks as he qualified for the Zone B Championships.
Fellow sophomore Nolan Lewis followed just behind Mann in seventh place with a Zone-cut score of 315.50. In prelims, Lewis nearly set a career best with a fifth-place score of 322.60. Lewis concluded the week with top-10 finishes in all three events.
Also in prelims, sophomore Rhett Hopkins placed 15th with a score of 254.95, while graduate Kevin Li finished 16th at 251.25.
In the women's 1-meter prelims, freshman Hannah Stumpf finished 16th with a score of 247.50, while junior Meghan Wenzel placed 27th at 222.80 and freshman Kyler Dixon finished 37th at 201.70.
The diving team and the rest of the Georgia swimming and diving teams will return to action next Saturday, Jan. 14 with a dual meet at South Carolina. The diving competition will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the swimming session at 11 a.m.
