August 17, 2022 | Women's Basketball
ATHENS, Ga. — An eight-game home slate highlights the University of Georgia women's basketball program's 2023 Southeastern Conference schedule, the league office announced Wednesday.
As part of the 16-game lineup, Georgia will play a trio of opponents twice with home and away contests against South Carolina, Kentucky and Florida. The schedule is split into eight home games and eight away matchups overall, with game times and TV designations to be announced at a later date.
SEC play tips off on Thursday, Dec. 29, when the Lady Bulldogs face Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Georgia's home schedule begins with back-to-back matchups against defending national champion South Carolina and 2022 SEC tournament champion Kentucky on Jan. 2nd and 5th. The Lady Bulldogs make return trips to both Columbia and Lexington later in the year.
Following its annual trip to Florida, Georgia hosts Ole Miss on Jan. 12, followed by trips to Tennessee (Jan. 15) and Texas A&M (Jan. 22).
Missouri and Mississippi State will trek to Stegeman Coliseum in late January to face the Lady Bulldogs, before Georgia opens the month of February at LSU (Feb. 2) and at Vanderbilt (Feb. 5).
Three of Georgia's final five conference games are at home as Florida (Feb. 12), Arkansas (Feb. 19) and Auburn (Feb. 23) make their way to Athens, while the Lady Bulldogs travel to Kentucky (Feb. 16) and end the regular season at South Carolina (Feb. 26).
The 2023 SEC Tournament will be held at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C. on March 1-5.
Georgia tips off the 2022-23 campaign on Nov. 7 against Coastal Carolina -- the first of four-straight home contests to begin the year.
The Lady Bulldogs enter their first season under the leadership of new head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson and her staff. Coach "ABE" — the 2022 American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year — has led her team to postseason play in each of the last 10 seasons, garnering 16 conference titles (nine tournament and seven regular season) in 17 years as head coach.
Georgia returns five letterwinners (Zoesha Smith, Chloe Chapman, Jordan Isaacs, Malury Bates and Javyn Nicholson) as well as 10 newcomers (Savannah Henderson, Diamond Battles, De'Mauri Flournoy, Stefanie Ingram, Fatima Diakhate, Alisha Lewis, Brittney Smith, Kari Niblack, Amiya Evans and Audrey Warren).
