Georgia Tabbed for Durham Regional

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia softball team is headed to the Durham Regional to begin the 2022 NCAA Softball Tournament, it was announced Sunday evening. 
 
The Bulldogs will be the No. 2 seed in the regional tournament hosted by nationally seeded No. 12 Duke. Liberty and UMBC will also be in the Durham Regional set to begin Friday, May 20. Georgia and Liberty will face off Friday at 12 p.m., ET, on ESPNU. 
 
The Durham Regional is paired with the Los Angles Regional hosted by No. 5 UCLA. The winner of each regional will face off in the Super Regional round May 27-29 in a best-of-three series for a spot in the 2022 Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. 
 
The 2022 NCAA Tournament will be the 20th-consecutive appearance for the Bulldogs. Georgia will look to make a run to its sixth Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. Georgia holds a 74-41 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs have advanced to 11 Super Regionals in the history of the program. 
 
Georgia enters the NCAA Tournament with a 40-16 record, the 18th 40-win season for the program. This will be Tony Baldwin's first NCAA Tournament as head coach of the Bulldogs and his ninth with the program.
