Georgia Women Finish 15th at NCAA Championships

ATLANTA – With two trips to the podium, the University of Georgia women's swimming and diving team posted a strong finish to the 2022 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships Saturday evening at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
Georgia finished 15th in the final standings with 104.5 points. Virginia won its second-consecutive national championship with 551.5 points, followed by Texas (406), Stanford (399.5), and Alabama (288).
For the meet, 10 different Bulldogs combined to earn 29 All-America citations, including a full seven for junior Zoie Hartman. The Bulldogs also set four top-10 program times and one school record, while also posting 11 personal-best times.
Senior Dakota Luther finished fourth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:51.80, earning First Team All-America honors in the event for the third-consecutive year. In prelims, Luther broke her previous school record by one one-hundredth of a second, finishing second in the session with a mark of 1:51.64. Luther was followed in the morning by senior Callie Dickinson, who placed 22nd with a time of 1:55.23.
Freshman Abby McCulloh also reached the podium in the 1,650 freestyle with a fifth-place time of 15:49.87, setting a personal best that ranks fourth in program history. McCulloh was one of three freshmen to finish in the top five in the mile. Elsewhere in the mile, fellow rookie Rachel Stege placed 35th at 16:23.89, followed by graduate Peyton Palsha closing out collegiate career with a 40th-place time of 16:28.77.
Later in the evening, Hartman earned Second Team All-America honors with a 15th-place time of 2:08.55 in the 200 breaststroke. In the prelims, senior Danielle Della Torre concluded her Bulldog career as she tied for 37th with a time of 2:10.27.
In the closing 400 freestyle relay, Hartman and Dickinson joined sophomore Maxine Parker and senior Gabi Fa'amausili to clinch Georgia's fifth All-American relay of the meet, finishing 16th with a season-best time of 3:13.55.
Georgia now turns its attention to the NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships, running Wednesday, March 23 through Saturday, March 26 at McAuley Aquatic Center. The Bulldog men received eight invitations to NCAAs, featuring top-seeded Matthew Sates in in the 500 freestyle and sophomores Luca Urlando and Jake Magahey, who each carry three top-10 seeds.
