Five Bulldogs Earn All-America Honors at NCAAs

ATLANTA – With three individual scorers and a fourth All-American relay, the University of Georgia women's swimming and diving team continued competition Friday evening at the 2022 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
 
Senior Dakota Luther provided the day's highlight with a pair of personal-best times in the 100 butterfly. In the evening session, Luther placed 11th with a time of 51.01, the second-fastest mark in program history, surpassing the 51.37 she turned in the morning that then ranked third all-time.
 
In the 200 freestyle, freshman Duné Coetzee earned her third All-America honor of the week with a time of 1:45.22. In prelims, Coetzee placed 13th with a personal-best mark of 1:44.65. Later, in the 100 breaststroke consolation final, junior Zoie Hartman tied for 13th with a time of 59.05, the same time she swam in prelims.
 
Luther and Hartman would later join junior Millie Sansome and sophomore Maxine Parker to score in the 400 medley relay, finishing 16th with a time of 3:30.39. Sansome led off the relay with a 52.65 on the 100 backstroke leg, with Parker dropping a 47.76 on the anchor.
 
In other prelims action, freshman Eboni McCarty notched a PR in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.92. Fellow freshman Angharad Evans finished 20th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.48, while senior Callie Dickinson placed 35th in the 100 butterfly at 52.55. In the 400 IM, graduate Peyton Palsha posted the Bulldogs' top time at 4:15.00, finishing 38th overall.
 
With one day of competition remaining, Georgia ranks 16th overall with 71.5 points. Virginia holds a comfortable lead with 386.5 points, followed by Stanford (276) and Texas (257).
 
The NCAA Championships conclude Saturday with six individual events (1,650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, platform diving) and the 400 freestyle relay. The prelims session begins at 10 a.m., followed by the early mile trials at 3:50 p.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
