Six Bulldogs Earn All-America Citations at NCAAs

ATLANTA – Led by junior Zoie Hartman's fourth-place finish in the 200 IM, the University of Georgia swimming and diving team continued its strong showing at the 2022 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday evening at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
 
Hartman earned her first All-America citation of the night as she finished fourth in the 200 IM with a season-best time of 1:53.15. In the breaststroke leg, she posted the second-fastest split of all competitors at 32.39 and closed with a 27.39 on the final 50 freestyle yards.
 
Later in the 200 freestyle relay, Hartman joined freshman Eboni McCarty, sophomore Maxine Parker, and senior Gabi Fa'amausili to finish 16th with a season-best time of 1:28.50. McCarty led off the race with a 22.56 split, while Hartman closed with a 22.10 on the anchor leg.
 
In the 500 freestyle, freshmen Duné Coetzee and Abby McCulloh both picked up Second Team All-America honors in their individual NCAA debuts. Coetzee placed 12th with a personal-best time of 4:38.78, besting the PR of 4:40.24 she set in prelims, while McCulloh finished 16th at 4:41.17.
 
At the diving well, sophomore Meghan Wenzel finished 22nd overall with a total score of 279.20, averaging a 46.50 for the session. Wenzel climbed up the leaderboard through each of her first four rounds, ranking 13th after a 54.60 on her fourth dive. Following a setback on her fifth dive, she rebounded to score a 50.70 on her final attempt.
 
In the morning session, Parker finished 20th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.09, followed by McCarty in 28th at 22.18. In the 200 IM, senior Dakota Luther placed 24th with a PR of 1:56.67, winning her heat, while fellow senior Callie Dickinson finished 41st with a season-best time of 1:57.66.
 
Through two days of competition, Georgia ranks 11th with 57 points, with Virginia leading the overall standings with 210 points, followed by Texas and Stanford.
 
The NCAA Championships continue Friday with six individual events (400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 3-meter) and the 400 medley relay. The prelims session begins at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m. Live coverage will be available on ESPN3 with live results available on the NCAA Championship Central page and to paid subscribers on the MeetMobile app.
