Georgia Opens SEC Play Friday With MSU Series

ATHENS, GA.------The No. 18 Georgia Bulldogs open Southeastern Conference action Friday night with defending national champion No. 24 Mississippi State coming to sold out Foley Field.  First pitch is set for 7:02 p.m., and the game will be televised on the SEC Network and available on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network.
 
Georgia (14-3, 0-0 SEC), under the direction of Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin, has won five in a row. MSU (11-7, 0-0 SEC), led by Chris Lemonis, has reeled off four straight victories. MSU leads the series with the Bulldogs 49-45 in available records. The teams last met in 2019 when MSU swept an SEC series in Starkville. MSU's last trip to Athens came in 2017, and the home Bulldogs claimed the series 2-1.

Georgia is batting .304 with 19 home runs on the year while posting a 3.36 ERA and a .974 Fielding Percentage. MSU is hitting .269 with 25 home runs while sporting a 4.20 ERA and a .988 Fielding Percentage.
 
Georgia graduate CF Ben Anderson (.373-3-12) and graduate SS Cole Tate (.372-1-9) lead the regulars. Anderson has reached base in 15 straight games as he ranks among the SEC leaders with a .548 OB% plus a team-high 16 walks. Tate ranks among the SEC leaders with 28 hits. Sophomore C/DH Corey Collins(.352-6-15) is tied for third in the SEC with six home runs and is sixth in the league with a .796 SLG%. He enters SEC play with a 15-game on base streak including a seven-game hitting streak. MSU's run producers include freshman Hunter Hines (.328-5-20), sophomore Kellum Clark (.280-5-16) and junior Logan Tanner (.290-2-22). 
 
Junior RHP Jonathan Cannon (3-1, 2.39 ERA) headlines the pitching staff and leads the SEC with 26.1 innings pitched. Sophomore LHP Luke Wagner is the national leader in victories at 5-0. A key member of the bullpen, he has notched a victory in all five of his relief appearances while posting a 0.73 ERA in 12.1 innings with 17 Ks. Sophomore LHP Liam Sullivan (2-1, 3.68 ERA) has served as the No. 2 starter. Sullivan will miss his turn in the rotation this Saturday to rest. Wagner will fill that spot. Redshirt sophomore RHP Garrett Brown (0-0, 5.40) will get the start on Sunday. Both teams have lost key members of their starting rotation this season due to injuries.

                  Also, there are three new flexible ticket packages available for 5-, 10- and 15-games. They can include any game on the home schedule. The prices for these packages are $40 for five games, $70 for ten games and $90 for 15 games. 
         Single game tickets for most non-conference games along with Thursday and Sunday SEC games are options too. Single game tickets are $10 while group tickets (10+ tickets) are $5 each. Currently, single game sales and group tickets are not available for SEC games on Friday or Saturday or for the game. For ticket or group info questions, please call (706) 542-1231, Ext. 1. Free parking is available in the commuter surface lot behind the outfield.

Have A Beverage At Foley Field
         Following the successful launch of alcohol sales at Stegeman Coliseum for both men's and women's basketball games, Georgia Athletics has announced it will carry over its pilot program to both baseball and softball this year.
