Bulldogs Improve To Third In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- The No. 9-ranked Georgia men's golf team moved into third place on Monday in the Southern Highlands Collegiate.

Playing Southern Highlands Golf Club's par-72, 7,510-yard layout, the Bulldogs posted their second straight 8-under 280 to move to 16-under 560. Oklahoma has the team lead at 26-under 550, followed by Texas at 19-under 557. Florida and Pepperdine are tied with the Bulldogs.

Freshman Maxwell Ford paced the Bulldogs with a 5-under 67 as he recorded seven birdies in the second round. Junior Nicolas Cassidy signed for a 2-under 70, followed by freshman Buck Brumlow at 1-under 71, and senior Trent Phillips at even-par 72. Junior Ben van Wyk had Georgia's non-counting round of 4-over 76.

Phillips and Ford stand 11th at 5-under 139, four off the pace set by tri-leaders Caden Fioroni of UNLV, Fred Biondi of Florida, and Patrick Welch of Oklahoma. Cassidy moved to 3-under 141, Brumlow checked in at 2-under 142, and van Wyk landed at 3-over 147.

The Southern Highlands Collegiate will conclude on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will be paired with Georgia Tech and Pepperdine and will tee off between 12:50 and 1:30 p.m.
