Bulldogs’ Ford Comes In Third In Fall Finale

October 30, 2022 | Men's Golf

LAHAINA, Hawaii --- Sophomore Maxwell Ford posted a career-low round to highlight the showing Sunday by the No. 17-ranked Georgia men's golf team in the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational.

Playing the Royal Ka'anapali Course's par-71, 6,700-yard layout, Ford signed for a 7-under 64 to eclipse the 6-under 66 he fired a season ago. He ended the tournament at 13-under 200, setting his second-lowest event total. Ford came in third behind Andrew Swanson of Clemson (195) and Nick Gabrelcik of North Florida (197).

As a team, the Bulldogs shot a 14-under 270 on Sunday to wind up ninth at 19-under 833. Team honors went to Oklahoma at 41-under 811.

Ford began his day with birdies on seven of his first eight holes, including the first four. He finished with 10 birdies.

Sophomore Buck Brumlow followed Ford with a 4-under 67, while senior Nicolas Cassidy had a 2-under 69, and senior Ben van Wyk added a 1-under 70. Junior Caleb Manuel had the Bulldogs' non-counting score of even-par 71.

Brumlow, Cassidy, and Manuel all landed in 40th at 1-under 212, while van Wyk (who celebrated his birthday Sunday) took 53rd at even-par 213.

Playing as an individual, freshman Carter Loflin came in 10th at 7-under 206, including a 2-under 69 in the final round.

The Bulldogs will return to action Jan. 30-Feb. 1 in the Southwestern Collegiate in California.
