PALO ALTO, Calif. — Jenny Bae fired a 5-under 66 to place fourth individually at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Sunday. The Bulldogs closed with a 6-over 290 to tie No. 16 Florida for 13th in a stacked field that featured four top-10 and seven top-25 teams.
After recording her eighth score in the 60s in 12 fall rounds, Bae completed the 54-hole tournament at 5-under 208. In four fall events, Bae finished first, second, fourth and 10th.
"Let's start with the obvious and the amazing fall season that Jenny put together," head coach Josh Brewer said. "To have four top-10 and three top-4 finishes with our schedule is super impressive. I'm proud of the way she led us as a captain and showed everyone on our roster what's doable.
"We had a couple of solid rounds this week but like last year, we couldn't get four or five rounds together to get us where we want to be as a team," Brewer said. "We know we have the talent. We've shown that. We'll go to work in the off season and do the things we need to do to be ready for the spring and show who we are."
With the shotgun start, Bae began her day at No. 12 with a birdie. After a par, she strung together four consecutive red numbers to move to 5-under through six holes. Additional birdies at No. 1 and No. 4 pushed the super senior from Suwanee, Ga., to 7-under through 11 holes before a double-bogey at No. 9.
Georgia also counted a 71 from Candice Mahé, a 74 from Caterina Don and a 78, the tally posted by Isabella Holpfer and Jo Hua Hung on Sunday.
Top-ranked Stanford swept the team and individual titles. The Cardinal finished at 15-under 837, 10 strokes ahead of Iowa State and No. 19 San Jose State. Rose Zhang won medalist honors at 13-under. For Georgia, Mahé tied for 43rd at 219, Hung tied for 70th at 224, Holpfer tied for 82nd at 227 and Don tied for 88th at 229.
The Stanford tourney completes the Bulldogs' fall slate. Georgia will return to action in February when the Bulldogs compete in the inaugural Guadalajarra Collegiate Invitational in Mexico.
