October 19, 2022 | Men's Basketball
Georgia to host Georgia College at 6:00 in Stegeman
ATHENS, Ga. — The date of the Georgia men's basketball team's exhibition game against Georgia College has been changed from Monday, Oct. 31 to Tuesday, Nov. 1. The contest will tip at 6:00 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum and admission will be free.
The Bulldogs will be taking the court for the first time under first-year head coach Mike White, who averaged more than 22 wins per season and led teams to postseason appearances in nine of 10 possible seasons in previous stints at Louisiana Tech and Florida.
Georgia's 2022-23 roster is a mix of five returning letterwinners and nine newcomers.
The quintet of returnees – Jabri Abdur-Rahim, Braelen Bridges, Jaxon Etter, Jailyn Ingram and Kario Oquendo – accounted for more than 60 percent of the Bulldogs' offensive production last season. Bridges and Oquendo were among the most productive players in the SEC during the 2021-22 campaign. Bridges paced the SEC and ranked No. 7 nationally in field goal percentage, connecting on 63.4 percent of his shots from the floor. Oquendo averaged 18.3 points in conference games last season, making in the SEC's leading returning scorer in league games.
Georgia's newcomers include six transfers and three freshmen. Five of the transfers – Frank Anselem, Justin Hill, Jusaun Holt, Mardrez McBride and Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe – played on teams that earned bids to the 2021 or 2022 NCAA Tournaments. In addition, Terry Roberts was the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Year after averaging 14.5 points, 4.1 assists and 1.6 steals for Bradley. The Bulldogs' trio freshmen is headlined by KyeRon Lindsay, a top-100 prospect from Denton, Texas.
Georgia will officially open the season on Monday, November 7 with a doubleheader. The Bulldogs will face Western Carolina at approximately 8:00 p.m., 30 minutes after the Georgia Lady Bulldogs' outing against Coastal Carolina at 6:00 p.m.
