Georgia Resumes Season with Home Dual Against Tennessee

ATHENS, Ga. – Following a two-month break from competition, the No. 12 University of Georgia swimming and diving team returns to the water Saturday morning for a matchup against SEC rival Tennessee at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

The meet opens at 11 a.m. EST and will be streamed live on SEC Network+ with live results available on GeorgiaDogs.com and to paid subscribers on the MeetMobile app. The first 100 fans in attendance at Gabrielsen will receive a Georgia swimming and diving T-shirt and food.

In the all-time series, the Georgia women lead by a 33-7-1 margin, but have not bested the Lady Vols since 2018. In the men's series, Tennessee leads 23-15-1. Last season, the Georgia men clinched an unbeaten regular season with a 150.5-149.5 victory, sealing the meet on the final relay.

Saturday's meet is the first competitive action for the Bulldogs since closing out the Georgia Tech Invitational in November. Despite a limited roster due to illness, the Bulldog women finished first overall, while the Bulldog men claimed fifth place. Junior Zoie Hartman earned three individual wins and was a part of four first-place relays, while senior Dakota Luther remained unbeaten in the butterfly. On the men's side, junior Dillon Downing set a new school record in the 100 freestyle and helped power two A-cut times in the 400 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay.

Led by head coach Matt Kredich, Tennessee again heads toward the SEC Championships as a top title contender, with the Lady Vols currently holding the conference's highest ranking at No. 6. Sophomore Mona McSharry holds the nation's top 100 breaststroke time, setting up a great battle with Hartman, while junior Kristen Stege, sister of Georgia freshman Rachel Stege, returns to the site of her SEC title last season in the mile.

Following Saturday's meet, Georgia will host Emory next Saturday at 11 a.m. in its annual Senior Day matchup. Prior to the meet, 18 seniors, fifth-year seniors, and graduate students will be recognized for their contributions to the program.
