QUICK KICKS
Series History
Sunday's match is only the second all-time meeting between Georgia and Wofford. In the previous meeting, the Bulldogs bested the Terriers, 6-1, on Sept. 10, 2004, in Athens.
Â
Statement Win for Dawgs
Georgia earned its greatest win in recent program history with a 3-1 victory over No. 15 Clemson Thursday evening. The win was the first over the Tigers since 2009 and was the first over a ranked opponent since 2015.
Â
Belisle is the Best
With her third two-goal match of the season, graduate forward Mollie Belisle moved into a tie for the national lead with 7, knotting her with Zsani Kajan of St. John's. Belisle has already set a new career high for scores in a season and now ranks 10th in school history with 18 goals. She also ranks second nationally in points with 14.
Â
Senior Night
Prior to tonight's match, the eight senior members (Abby Boyan, Kristen Edmond, Weldon Kolker, Dani Murguia, Hale Otto, Bella Ponzi, Cecily Stoute, Emory Wegener) of the Georgia soccer team will be recognized with their families in an on-field ceremony.
Â
Putting Up Numbers
Through five matches, the Georgia attack ranks first in the nation with 22 goals, surpassing the 18 scored last season. The 22 goals mark the most in program history through five matches, topping the 20 tallied in 2000. With 4.4 goals per match, the scoring offense ranks third nationally and first in the SEC.
Â
Murguia Making Noise
Senior midfielder Dani Murguia has tallied four goals and 13 points, setting new career bests in just five matches. Murguia and fellow senior Abby Boyan rank fourth nationally in assists with five apiece. The Cleburne, Texas native also ranks fifth nationally in points.
Â
Lewin Lights Up
Freshman forward Danielle Lewin has established herself as one of the nation's top newcomers. With five goals, she is tied for sixth in the nation and tied for first among freshmen in scores. She also leads the team in shots and shots on goal, ranking first in the SEC in SOG per match (2.6).
Â
Sharing is Caring
Through five matches, Georgia ranks third nationally in total assists with 21. Seniors Abby Boyan and Dani Murguia rank second in the league in assists with five, while also ranking fourth nationally. In total, nine different Bulldogs have notched at least one assist in the opening stretch of the season.
Â
Run of Consistency
Thanks to a quartet of Bulldogs, the Georgia starting lineup has remained remarkably consistent. Graduate defender Kayla Bruster has started in 65 consecutive appearances, while seniors Abby Boyan (57), Bella Ponzi (55), and Cecily Stoute (55) have also continued streaks of their own.
