QUICK KICKS
Series History
Thursday's matchup is the 12th all-time meeting between Georgia and Clemson. In the most recent meeting, Clemson topped Georgia, 3-1, on March 20 in Clemson.
Â
Georgia-Clemson in Fútbol
Georgia (No. 8 in United Soccer Coaches Southeast Region rankings) hosts No. 15 Clemson in soccer just two days prior to the Duke's Mayo Classic between the schools' top-five football programs on Saturday in Charlotte. The schools have previously met 11 times, with Clemson holding a 9-2 advantage in the series. Georgia last prevailed in a 2-1 result at Clemson on Sept. 18, 2009. With a win, the Bulldogs would earn their first top-25 win since 2015.
Â
Putting Up Numbers
Through four games, the Georgia attack ranks second in the nation with 19 goals, surpassing the 18 scored last season. The 19 goals mark the most in program history through four games, surpassing the 17 tallied in 2000. With 4.75 goals per game, the scoring offense ranks sixth nationally and first in the SEC.
Â
Murguia and Belisle Making Noise
With five goals, graduate forward Mollie Belisle sits second in the nation and tops in the SEC. With 16 career scores, Belisle holds the career lead among active Georgia players. Senior midfielder Dani Murguia has tallied four goals and 12 points, setting new career bests in just four games.
Â
Strong Start for Newcomers
Georgia's freshman class has made its presence known in the first four matches of the season. Forward Danielle Lewin has posted four goals and leads the team with 17 shots and 11 shots on goal. Midfielder Morgan Hart scored her first career goal against Belmont, while defender Jessie Dunn earned an assist in the match. Dunn and midfielder Isabella Muzzolini have started all four matches.
Â
Sharing is Caring
Through four matches, Georgia ranks fifth nationally in total assists with 16. Senior Dani Murguia leads the league in assists with four, while also ranking third nationally. In total, nine different Bulldogs have notched at least one assist in the opening stretch of the season.
Â
Run of Consistency
Thanks to a quartet of Bulldogs, the Georgia starting lineup has remained remarkably consistent. Graduate defender Kayla Bruster has started in 64 consecutive appearances, while seniors Abby Boyan (56), Bella Ponzi (54), and Cecily Stoute (54) have also continued streaks of their own.
