Georgia Falls to Alabama on Senior Day, 13-3

ATHENS, Ga. – The 21st-ranked Georgia Bulldogs fell to No. 4 Alabama in five innings Saturday, 13-3. UGA celebrated the careers of senior and graduate student-athletes prior to the game.
Junior Savana Sikes picked up two of Georgia's six hits Saturday, finishing 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Sophomore Sydney Kuma drove in all three of the Bulldogs runs including a two-run home run in the fifth.
Graduate Mary Wilson Avant (15-8) suffered the loss in the circle. She worked 1.2 innings in her start. Fellow graduate Alley Cutting pitched two innings in relief, allowing only one run.
The Crimson Tide (38-7, 14-6) pushed four runs across the plate in the top of the first to jump out to an early 4-0 lead.
Georgia (29-16, 7-13) got one of the runs back in the home half of the inning. Sikes led off the inning with a double to left. She took third on a passed ball and scored on an RBI groundout by Kuma to put the Bulldogs on the board, 4-1.
A bases-loaded walk and a two-RBI single pushed three runs in for the Tide in the second inning. Alabama widened the lead further with five third inning runs to bring the score to 12-1.
After a scoreless top of the fifth by Cutting, Kuma picked up her second and third RBI with a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning to bring the final score to 13-3.
The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide will close the series Sunday. The game has been moved to a 3 p.m. start time and will now air on SEC Network.
